Welcome to the Submission Site
Welcome to the ILCA 2021 Conference Abstract submission site. The in-person event will be held Monday 30 August – Thursday 2 September in Houston, Texas, USA. The virtual event will be held simultaneously and will be available for registrants to view for approximately three months.
The online abstract submissions deadline is 11:59 pm (US Eastern Time) on 1 February 2021 (convert to your local time here). Information submitted for each abstract will be saved in the system until completed. You do not need to complete your submission at one time. However, failure to complete the required tasks and click the “Submit” button by the due date will result in your abstract being rejected. More information is available by reading the submission requirements.
New in 2021! The educational concepts have been reimagined to maximize hands-on learning and interaction with your peers. Please carefully review the submission options as some session types offered in the past have been retired to allow time for new learning activities.
ABSTRACT CATEGORIES
Concurrent Session: one-hour lectures presented either in-person or virtually. Virtual sessions will be recorded to correspond with the PowerPoint slides. In-person concurrent sessions will be recorded (to possibly include voice, video, and PowerPoint slides) and posted on the virtual conference site for the duration of the event (up to three months).
Case Study (in-person exclusive): Help your peers learn from your experience. Facilitators will provide details of a case they have encountered in their practice, being careful to protect patient privacy and/or collect proper permissions. Participants will discuss the information in small groups and work together to determine how they would treat the family. Groups will share their conclusions followed by the facilitators detailing the treatment plan they followed and the results. These sessions will be presented both Tuesday, 31 August and repeated on Wednesday, 1 September. The approximate timeline for the 1.5-hour Case Study sessions will be as follows:
Poster Presentation: All research and project posters will be presented virtually with a few being selected for in-person presentation as well. Virtual posters will include a .pdf file designed to look like a printed poster and a five-minute recording outlining the research or project. The highest-scoring research posters will be selected for oral presentation as well, which will be 10-15-minute pre-recorded presentations listed on the website in conjunction with the other oral research recordings. In-person poster presenters will be required to register and attend the in-person event in Houston and participate in a one-hour poster question and answer session on Tuesday, 31 August.
AUTHORS
Abstracts may list more than one author who is legitimately involved in the topic being presented. Each author will be required to outline their involvement and any conflicts of interest as part of the submission process. There is a maximum of four authors per presentation, one of whom will be designated as the Lead Author. Individuals may be involved in a maximum of two total abstracts, which can be a combination of any of the formats. If an author is involved in more than two submitted abstracts, only the first two submitted will be considered for presentation.
Authors must also acknowledge that they are presenting their original material or that they have permission from the copywrite holders to present the material, and that they are responsible for all of the logistical expenses necessary for presenting the material (internet connections, travel to Houston for in-person presentations, etc.). Please keep your ability to travel to Houston 30 August – 2 September in mind as you determine the type of abstract you will be submitting and whether you are interested in presenting in-person or virtually.
Authors will be responsible for ensuring that all communicated deadlines are met if the abstract is accepted. Presentations may be cancelled and removed from conference materials if all deadlines are not met.
NOTIFICATION
Submitting authors will receive an email in the first part of March inviting them to present or notifying them that the abstract has been declined, at which point further instructions will be given and action will be required for authors of accepted abstracts.
REGISTRATION
Authors must register for the in-person conference in order to present the material at the event in Houston, Texas, USA. Virtual presenters are encouraged to register for the in-person or virtual events, but registration is not required. One author per accepted abstract will be eligible for a registration discount.
