National Capital Area Traumatic Brain Injury Research Symposium 2019

National Capital Area Traumatic Brain Injury Research Symposium welcomes the submission of abstracts for oral presentations and poster displays at the 2019 Symposium. Please note the abstract text word limit is 675 words.

Poster Presentation Abstracts

Poster abstracts will be reviewed by a committee of principal investigators from local organizations for scientific merit. An abstract author must be available on the dates of the Symposium. Selected posters will be displayed from the morning of Monday, March 4 through the afternoon of Tuesday, March 5. Time will be set aside each day for symposium attendees to view posters and network with poster presenters. Poster boards are 4 feet tall by 6 feet wide and push pins will be provided at the site.

A poster judging session will take place during the Symposium for graduate students and postdoctoral fellows, with recognition for the top 3 in each category. Posters will be judged on scientific merit. The poster awards ceremony will occur on Tuesday, March 5.

Poster finalists will also participate in a "data blitz" style session during the morning of Monday, March 4 to provide an introduction to their poster and encourage poster attendance. Selected poster finalists will be invited to give an oral slide presentation which emphasizes the most important and innovative aspects of their research that will be presented subsequently in the poster sessions. Each "data blitz" presenter will have a strict limit of 3 minutes and no more than 3 slides.

Due to limited space, we may not be able to accept all submissions. We encourage submitters to submit their best science or work to combine similar projects into one poster abstract submission. Abstracts should state results and be written to address selection based on scientific merit.

Oral Presentation Abstracts

Oral presentation abstract submissions will be reviewed in the same manner as the poster abstracts. If you would also like to have your oral abstract considered as poster, you will be able to make that selection during the oral abstract submission process. All oral presentations will be 15 minutes in duration plus 5 minutes for questions and answers.

Presenters selected to give an oral presentation will be required to sign a disclosure statement. The NCA TBI Symposium will be offering Continuing Medical Education (CME) credits to qualified attendees and all CME activities must be free of the control of commercial interests. Therefore, as a presenter, you must disclose all relevant financial relationships with any commercial interest.
