Instructional Guide

Theme: Honoring the Scholarship, Leadership, and Service of Faculty and Staff in Academic Medicine

The AAMC Faculty and Staff Vitality Group, in collaboration with the Council of Deans and the Council of Faculty and Academic Societies, invites submissions for the Joint Poster Reception at Learn Serve Lead 2026: The AAMC Annual Meeting in Anaheim, CA. The reception will take place on Saturday, November 7, 2026, from 6:45–8:00 PM. All proposals must be submitted online by August 21, 2026, 11:59 PM PT.

This collaborative poster reception will highlight scholarship, promising practices, innovative programs, and institutional strategies that advance faculty and staff vitality across academic medicine, while providing a shared space to elevate work that strengthens the professional experiences of faculty, staff, leaders, and learners.

Aligning with this year's theme, Honoring the Scholarship, Leadership, and Service of Faculty and Staff in Academic Medicine, we invite proposals that explore how institutions are creating environments where faculty and staff can thrive, contribute meaningfully, grow professionally, and remain engaged in the mission. Proposal Expectations

Submissions should clearly describe the purpose, relevance, approach, and potential impact of the work. Proposals should demonstrate alignment with the goals of the Faculty and Staff Vitality Group, the Council of Deans, and the Council of Faculty and Academic Societies by addressing issues that matter to academic medicine leaders, faculty, and staff professionals.

Strong proposals will:

• Identify a clear challenge, opportunity, or need.
• Describe the approach, strategy, intervention, or research design.
• Explain the relevance to academic medicine.
• Include outcomes, lessons learned, early findings, or anticipated impact.
• Highlight implications for institutional practice, leadership, policy, or future scholarship.
• Offer insights that may be useful or adaptable to other institutions or communities.

Who Should Submit

We welcome submissions from faculty, staff, administrators, institutional leaders, and researchers across academic medicine. Collaborative proposals—especially those spanning faculty affairs, academic leadership, human resources, diversity and inclusion, and wellness—are highly encouraged.

Why Submit

This inaugural Joint Poster Reception of the Faculty and Staff Vitality Group, Council of Deans, and the Council of Faculty and Academic Societies offers an opportunity to share your work with colleagues across AAMC communities, including faculty, staff, deans, and academic leaders from academic societies. Presenters will have the opportunity to engage in meaningful dialogue, exchange ideas, receive feedback, and contribute to a growing national conversation about how academic medicine can better support the faculty and staff who contribute to its mission.
