Overview

The ASLA 2026 Conference on Landscape Architecture will take place in Los Angeles, September 16–18. The call for presentations is open from January 6 to February 17.

Session Formats

  • 75-Minute Education Session: Standard session format featuring a 60-minute presentation and 15-minute Q&A with two or three speakers. Requests to add more speakers cannot be accommodated.
  • Field Session: Combines educational content with an immersive field experience organized by the host chapter. Half-day field session proposals are strongly preferred and will receive special consideration during the review process. Email the Southern California ASLA Chapter Field Session Co-Chairs at asla2026fieldsessions@gmail.com before submitting a field session proposal.

Submission Process

  • Review the submission guide for your selected session type.
  • All submitters must create a new account in the Abstract ScoreCard system.
  • You will receive a confirmation email once your submission is received.
  • Start early—you may save your work and return at any time.

Submission Policies

  • Limit of three submissions per submitter.
  • Speakers may appear on no more than three sessions.
  • Each selected 75-minute session receives one complimentary registration; additional speakers may register at a discounted rate of $150.
  • Speakers will be invited to a professional training session in the summer.
  • Landscape architecture professionals (ASLA-recognized program graduates) must be active ASLA members if accepted.
  • Allied professionals are welcome and not required to be ASLA members.

Submitters must select one education track. Tracks include:

  • Equity and Inclusion
  • Lead, Grow, Thrive: Advancing Your Career & Practice
  • The Future of the Public Realm

Submission Review Criteria

The review process is competitive—only one in four submissions is selected. Proposals are reviewed by the ASLA Annual Conference Education Advisory Committee (ACEAC) based on:

  • Relevance to landscape architecture
  • Clear and achievable learning outcomes
  • Timeliness and relevance of topic
  • Appeal to attendees
  • Audience type and expertise level
  • Speaker qualifications
  • Panel equity and inclusion
  • Content equity and inclusion
