Theme: The Power of Connection
This year, our conference theme, "The Power of Connection," isn't just a concept; it's a recognition of the shared journey we're all on and the vital role that our profound connections play in shaping a healthier future for mothers, children, and families. From interpersonal relationships and community networks to data integration and policy alignment— our connections are fundamental to improving maternal and child health (MCH) outcomes. Our partnerships ground us in our purpose, amplify our collective impact, foster innovation, and build strong systems of care.Working in MCH can be demanding, with the landscape constantly shifting as we navigate complex challenges every day. That's why this year's theme also embraces the idea of our connections as a source of rejuvenation and restoration. AMCHP 2026 offers a unique opportunity to step back, recharge, and reconnect with what brought you to this work. The conference is a space to find renewed energy and reignite the spirit of collaboration that the communities we care about depend upon.
Join us as we celebrate the partnerships and the unique and shared experiences that continue to power the connections that drive our work forward. This conference will be an inspiring and empowering experience; affirming your passions and professional expertise and reminding us of the important roles we each play in the powerful connections that are the bedrock of a stronger, more impactful MCH ecosystem.
Learning Objectives for the Conference Include:
• Identify practices and policies designed to grow and support impactful partnerships in maternal and child health (MCH)• Discover methods to build authentic, intentional, impactful partnerships
• Apply impactful frameworks, theories, and approaches to MCH efforts.
• Examine ways to strengthen partnerships between families, communities, and local and state MCH programs.
• Build and apply important skills for the MCH workforce.
• Discuss emerging issues, pressing concerns, and the latest research in MCH.
• Develop new partnerships in the MCH field and beyond.
• Identify individual and organizational roles in transforming MCH systems.
AMCHP Culture and Expectations of Proposal Submitters
AMCHP asks all proposal submitters to propose work that has authentically engaged individuals, families, and communities most affected by their issue of focus and includes at least one representative as a presenter. Additionally, all proposal submitters should ensure that the language they use to describe their efforts – both in the submission and if accepted, when presenting at the conference – uses strengths-based, respectful, language and avoids traumatizing and inaccurate language that mischaracterizes differences in outcomes as due to individual or community characteristics, as opposed to exposure to systemic injustices. AMCHP also maintains the right to suggest alternate phrasing in accepted session titles and descriptions. There are numerous resources available on strengths-based, respectful language. These include• AMCHP Innovation Hub Glossary
• OHSU Inclusive Language Guide
AMCHP wants to hear directly from individuals who personally experience the barriers or challenges that place them at disproportionate risk for the health outcomes we are fighting to improve. If your proposal includes partnerships with community members or community-based organizations, we encourage you to support them to attend and present at our conference.
Who Attends AMCHP?
The AMCHP Annual Conference is one of the largest gatherings of MCH professionals in the country. Every year, we welcome over 1,000 MCH leaders and thinkers at our conference, including individuals working in MCH state and jurisdictional government, family and community leaders, youth, students, researchers, and health professionals to exchange ideas, data, resources, strategies, and tools to achieve our shared goal of healthy children, healthy families, and healthy communities. Our conference audience works across a variety of sectors (e.g. public health, education, and social services) and impacts families and communities at critical periods and across life stages, such as:
• Perinatal and infant health
• Early Childhood
• Children and Youth with and without Specific Health Care Needs and Disabilities
• Adolescent Health
Whoever you are and wherever you work, you are welcome at the 2026 AMCHP Annual Conference!
How long does it take to submit a proposal?
AMCHP staff estimated it takes about 2 hours to pull all of the content pieces together, and 15-20 minutes to fill out the forms for the actual submission. Therefore, please plan ahead for the due date of October 31, 2025.
Again this year, AMCHP is accepting video submissions in place of the written submission for workshops and skills-builder sessions. Please focus your 5-minute submission video on questions 1-7 of the session/proposal details page.
Submission Type Descriptions (see below):
| Session Type | Description |

| Workshops | 60 minutes in length. Workshops are informative sessions that often include a panel of presenters representing varying perspectives, include audience interaction, and have at least 15 minutes for Questions & Answers (Q&A). |
| Digital Poster | Digital, one-slide presentation of research or program results to be presented in a concurrent session with about 10 minutes for presentation and Q&A per poster. |
