Welcome to the ISM Student Case Competition
The Institute for Supply Management® (ISM®) Global Case Competition is held in conjunction with the ISM World Conference 2022, May 22-25. The case study will address an industry challenge in supply management. Teams with a maximum of four (4) students from colleges will have the opportunity to develop analytical and reasoning skills in a professional setting, much like they will face in the business world. Financial awards will be given to 1st, 2nd and 3rd place teams. Awards are based on winning placement. ISM will financially sponsor conference registration fees for students who are selected to participate in the final round of the case competition.
The included questions will serve as an initial round for the competition. Diverse perspectives and thoughtful input are encouraged. Note that the word limit for each is 250 words. A team of ISM subject matter experts will review each submission to select the four finalist teams to present at ISM World 2022.

The Case Round
Student teams after the interest round will be asked to address the case in a presentation deck and a 10-minute summary video. A team of ISM subject matter experts will review each submission to select the four finalist teams to present at ISM World 2022.
- Represents a realistic yet hypothetical organizational challenge facing supply management professionals today and possibly into the future
- Allows for multiple perspectives and strategies to achieve an optimal result
- Requires innovation, data analysis, soft skills, and creativity from student team
- Will be available to students in early January
- Students will prepare a presentation deck (roughly 8-12 slides)
- Each student on the team must be a part of the presentation
Finalist Round
After judge deliberation, 4 finalist teams are invited to attend the ISM World 2022 conference in-person. If travel becomes an issue, hybrid virtual access will be provided. Teams will record up to 20-minute full case presentations with ISM production team 5 weeks prior to conference. The top 3 will be awarded prizes.
