Welcome to the 2025 SACME Annual Meeting Abstract Submission Site

Are you a CPD researcher with a project to share? A program director who has conducted data-driven program evaluation? Do you have a completed study or upcoming publication you’d like to highlight to showcase your work? The SACME Program Committee invites you to submit an abstract for oral or poster presentations at the 2025 Society for Academic Continuing Medical Education Annual Meeting, March 16–19, 2025 in Washington, DC.
PLEASE NOTE: The 2025 Annual Meeting will be held in-person only; no virtual attendance option will be available.
The 2025 theme is "Advocacy in Action: Empowering CPD Professionals to Lead Change." The abstract selection committee will accept research and best practice submissions in the following domains:
Advocating for Our Programs
- Bridging quality improvement (QI) with CPD/CE
- Implementation science applied to CPD/CE
- Using data to demonstrate the value and effectiveness of our activities and programs
Advocating for Our Learners
- Effective strategies to improve wellness and workplace resilience
- Interdisciplinary and interprofessional teamwork
- Coordination of GME, PGME and CPD/CE milestones
Advocating for the Patients We Ultimately Serve
- Equity, diversity, inclusion, and accessibility in CPD/CE (curriculum development, breaking down barriers, biases, creating cultural safety, etc.)
- Involving persons with lived experience in CPD/CE development, practice, and research
- Role in social responsibility in CPD/CE (e.g., climate crisis, social justice, etc.)
Advocating for Ourselves and Our CPD Colleagues
- Developing leadership, scholarship and research competencies of those involved in CPD/CE
- Expanding our understanding of the fundamentals of learning
- Creating a roadmap for the development of CPD professionals
Please Note: You are not limited to the examples above; the abstract selection committee will consider topics beyond those listed here and will accept submissions in research in CPD/CE (including works in progress or in the exploratory stages) and best practices and innovations.>

You are encouraged to incorporate concepts of diversity, equity, inclusion and accessibility in your abstract and presentation. Check out this helpful checklist!
Submission Type: During the abstract submission process, you will be asked to select your preferred presentation format if your abstract is accepted.
- Oral Presentation
- Oral presentations will only be presented live in-person (on stage) to an in-person only audience and will include short question and answer periods. Oral presentations will be limited to 8-10 minutes with 2-3 minutes for Q&A.
- All oral presenters will be expected to register for the conference.
- Poster Presentation
- Most poster presentations will be presented live in-person to an in-person only audience. They will have 5 minutes for the presentation and 2-3 minutes for a short question and answer period.
- A limited number of poster presentations may be accepted as virtual presentations. They will be expected to prerecord a 5 minute presentation and submit it to the conference platform in advance of the conference.
- All poster presenters will be expected to register for the conference.
- Either
- Acceptance for Oral or Poster would be acceptable
Submission Category: The abstract selection committee is accepting submissions in the field of CPD/CE in the following categories:
- Original Research in Medical Education (Works in Exploratory Stages or In Progress)
Exploratory Stages: Present and receive feedback on early research plans, with possible mentorship.
In Progress: Share preliminary findings, methodologies, or unexpected results. - Original Research in Medical Education (Completed Works) These opportunities let authors present completed work and engage in critical discussion.
- Best Practices and Innovations These presentations cover the application of research to CPD/CE, including best practices, innovations, and educational technology.
- Program Evaluation This category focuses on evaluating CPD/CE programs, driven by stakeholder needs and local context, using established models and frameworks. Check out this helpful guide for submitting a Program Evaluation abstract!
- Evidence Informed Perspectives/Forums Authors can offer unique perspectives that provide new insights, challenge ideas, and guide the CPD/CE community.

This initiative allows members to receive personalized guidance from a Scholarship Committee member, helping you refine your abstract and increase its chances of acceptance.

Notification: Abstract notifications will be sent to corresponding authors mid-November 2024. All presenters must register for the SACME 2025 Annual Meeting and will be expected to follow the guidelines for presentations.
