About the Summit
Are you pursuing a career in academic medicine or academic research? Then this summit is for you!
The Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC) is now accepting applications from learners across the nation to participate in the first-ever 2023 AAMC Learner Summit. Hosted by AAMC's Organizations of Student and Resident Representatives, this inaugural summit aims to connect learners on topics related to critical issues impacting academic medicine and research, with a keen focus on learner professional and leadership development.
This year’s summit will be held June 16-18, 2023 in Washington, DC. The three-day event will feature plenaries, workshops, and sessions on a variety of topics including:
- Mentorship
- Health Advocacy and Policy
- Financial Wellness
- Worklife Balance
- Transitions to Residency, Practice, and Research Faculty
- Developing a Professional Brand
Who Should Apply?
To participate in the Learner Summit, you must be affiliated with an AAMC member institution. The summit is an application-based meeting open to medical students, residents, fellows, PhD and MD-PhD students and postdoctoral researchers who are focused on a career in academic medicine or research. All are invited to apply. Space is limited.
Costs
The AAMC will cover registration, and lodging. Attendees are responsible for all other costs (i.e., securing travel, transportation, meals, etc).
What Information is Required to Submit an Application?
- Curricula Vitae (CV)
- Statement of Interest
- Letter of support from the medical school dean, program director/department chair, graduate dean, or postdoctoral program leader
