CFPR Professional Development Scholarships!

The California Foundation for Parks and Recreation Scholarship Committee is now offering professional development scholarships to assist professionals in furthering their education, achieving their career goals and making an impact in parks and recreation. Award amounts can range between $500 - $2,000.

Scholarship applications are evaluated based on these criteria:
  • Experience in the field
  • Leadership and impact in the profession
  • Professional reference(s)
  • Demonstrated use of scholarship funds towards educational opportunities and trainings
General Guidelines:
  • CPRS membership must be active at the time of award notification.
  • Scholarship funds must be used towards educational opportunities and/or trainings related to the park and recreation industry. This may include but is not limited to conferences, workshops, trainings, certifications or related travel expenses.
  • Scholarship recipient(s) will be eligible for future professional development scholarships every three (3) years.
  • Only completed applications including at least one (1) letter of recommendation will be eligible for review.
Recipient Expectations:
  • Award notifications will be received via email in October 2021.
  • Recognition and delivery of award will take place at CPRS CONNECTIONS, March 8-11, 2022, in Sacramento.
  • Each recipient will be asked to submit an article for California Parks & Recreation magazine outlining the training opportunity they attend and the skills they learned AND/OR commit to assisting with future scholarship fundraising activities.
