6th Annual Leadership Academy
April 21-22, 2020, Marriott New Orleans, LA

Program Description: As part of its mission to provide visionary leadership for academic programs in Communication Sciences and Disorders and to promote the professional development of its constituents, the Council of Academic Programs in Communication Sciences and Disorders (CAPCSD) is continuing a program to help individuals considering academic leadership positions, or who are newly engaged in academic leadership, develop their knowledge and skills in the area of leadership.

The sixth-annual CAPCSD Leadership Academy, “Best Practices in Academic Leadership,” will be held Tuesday and Wednesday, April 21-22, 2020, prior to the CAPCSD conference, at the Marriott New Orleans, LA. The Leadership Academy will be led by Dr. Jeffrey Buller, CEO and Senior Partner in ATLAS: Academic Training, Leadership, & Assessment Services.

Topics to be covered include foundations of leadership; time management; stress management; collegiality and team building; best practices in faculty evaluation, mentoring, and coaching; leading change; and goal setting/planning for the future.

Application Process: Participation is limited to 20 individuals, chosen through a competitive process. Faculty applicants from CAPCSD-member programs are invited to apply. Only applications from CAPCSD-member programs in good standing as of September 15th will be considered. Selected participants receive complimentary registration to the Leadership Academy, CAPCSD conference, two nights hotel, and some meals. Participants are expected to attend the CAPCSD conference April 22-25, 2020.

Deadlines: Applications are accepted through end of day on Friday, October 11, 2019, midnight EDT. Decisions will be announced by Monday, December 2, 2019.
