Welcome to the Abstract Submission page for the 67th Annual Meeting of the Institute of Nuclear Materials Management – INMM 2026!


INMM is a nonprofit, international, professional organization that includes policymakers, analysts, educators, students, managers, engineers, scientists and technicians dedicated to providing assurance that nuclear materials are properly protected, managed, handled, stored and used for purposes approved by treaty or law.


Submit your abstract today and showcase your experiences and insights in the domains of nuclear & radiological security, nonproliferation and arms control, international nuclear safeguards, facility operations, packaging and transportation, spent fuel, information surety, inspections, containment and surveillance, measurement technology, nuclear processing, education and training, and physical protection, and panel sessions designed to facilitate expert dialogue and audience engagement.


Key Submission Dates:
  • Deadline to Submit Abstracts: February 3, 2026 at 11:59 PM (Eastern Standard Time)
  • Review Period: February 9-23, 2026
  • Author Notification: Starting April 2026

  • For selected abstracts:
  • Due Date for Presentation Withdrawal or Author Changes: July 3, 2026
  • Panel sessions – Submit final panelist names by July 3, 2026 for review.
  • Speaker Registration Deadline: July 3, 2026
  • Due Date for Student Papers* (see note below): July 3, 2026
  • Final Presentations/Posters Due: July 10, 2026
  • Optional: 10-Page Paper Due (will appear alongside extended abstract in proceedings): July 10, 2026

  • Please note all abstracts must be submitted in English. Oral presentations must submit an extended abstract/proceeding article by the February 3 deadline; lightning talks and poster presentations must submit abstracts not exceeding 300 words by the February 3 deadline. Panel session abstracts follow the same submission deadline as other presentation types and must include the required information described in the Panel Sessions section.


    *Student Paper Awards Students will be considered for JD Williams Student Paper Award cash prizes if they meet the requirements of the student paper competition, which includes submitting a full paper (up to 10 pages) no later than the July 3, 2026 deadline. Students submitting abstracts for oral presentations, lightning talks, or posters are all eligible, but must submit a full paper to be considered.

    Submission Types & Requirements

    Oral Presentations (20 minutes)

    • Required: An extended abstract/proceeding article for peer review.
      • Length: Minimum 1 full page, maximum 2 pages.
    • Optional: A full paper (up to 10 pages).
      • Full papers are not required for oral presentations.
      • If submitted, full papers will be included in the meeting proceedings.

    Lightning Talks (10 minutes)

    • Lightning talks are shorter presentations designed for project updates, works-in-progress, or collaboration starters.
    • Required: Abstract (300 word limit)
    • Optional: Extended abstracts or full papers are not required but may be submitted optionally for inclusion in the proceedings.
    • Optional: Presenters may also choose to display a poster in addition to their lightning talk.
      • The lightning talk will be scheduled before the poster session to help advertise the poster.

    Posters

    • Required: Abstract (300 word limit)
    • Optional: Poster submissions may optionally include an extended abstract (1–2 pages) for peer review and/or a full paper (up to 10 pages) for inclusion in the proceedings.

    Panels (100 minutes)

    • Panel organizers must submit a panel abstract of up to 300 words describing the topic, objectives, intended audience, moderator, known panelists, and planned panel format.
    • The standard panel session length is 100 minutes; requests for alternative durations must include a brief justification.
    • Panels should reflect the diversity of the INMM membership and support balanced speaking opportunities among panelists.
    • Final panelist names must be submitted to INMM by July 3 to allow time for review and feedback on panel representation.
    • Panel organizers will be notified if adjustments are needed to improve representation or balance within the panel.
