2019 Section on Pediatric Trainees (SOPT) Abstracts Program

The Section on Pediatric Trainees (SOPT) will accept interesting case reports by medical students, residents, and fellowship trainees.

Abstracts will be accepted for poster presentations only. The abstract must be a case report.

Presenters of accepted abstracts will be asked to present their poster at the SOPT Reception and Poster Display at the AAP National Conference on October 26, 2019, in New Orleans, LA. The medical student, resident and fellowship trainee winning abstracts (one winner per respective training cohort) will be published as a full case report in the September 2020 issue of Pediatrics in Review (pending peer review).

Submissions by members and non-members of the Section on Pediatric Trainees are welcome. Participation is open to health professionals in any field. However, any papers whose first author is not a member of the Section on Pediatric Trainees requires a sponsor who is a Section member. Additional authors do not need to be members of the Section; if they are members, one may serve as the sponsor. Sponsors must ensure that non-members adhere to National Conference abstract guidelines. Authors submitting to the Section on Pediatric Trainees in need of a sponsor or with questions may contact Joshua Prudent (jpruden5@jhmi.edu) and Megan Donahue (megandonahue@hotmail.com). PLEASE NOTE: Medical students, pediatric residents and fellowship trainees can be members of the AAP. Residents should check with their training program if they are uncertain of their membership status, as many residencies sponsor AAP membership. Trainees who are AAP members are automatically members of SOPT and therefore do not need a sponsor to submit.

Submission will not preclude submission for journal publication, nor does prior publication disqualify submission. If a winning abstract has been previously published, the full case report will not be re-published.
