2022 AAMC Conference for Institutional Advancement

Sponsored by the Group on Institutional Advancement

The AAMC Group on Institutional Advancement (GIA) Steering Committee wants your input on what should be presented at the 2022 AAMC Conference for Institutional Advancement, April 5-7 in Chicago, Illinois. This annual conference is the only professional development conference designed exclusively for alumni relations, communications, development, marketing, and public affairs/community relations professionals in academic medicine.

We look forward to your contributions. Submit a proposal to share your successes, lessons learned, future directions, promising or best practices, collaborations, or solutions to community-wide issues.

This year, you have the option to—

Submit a concurrent session proposal: A blend of peer learning based on instructions, case studies, small group discussions, and interactions, generally targeted toward specific disciplines. These sessions run for 1 hour.

Submit a deep-dive session proposal: Longer sessions for the in-depth development of skills featuring high levels of interactivity. These sessions run for 2 hours.

Submit a session topic idea proposal: A session topic of import to the institutional advancement community—tell us what it is, why it matters, and who might be an effective presenter for it. Session topic ideas will be considered by the Steering Committee after concurrent and deep dive session proposals are reviewed.

Important Information
All submissions and recommendations are due: September 28, 2021 at 11:59 PM ET. No late submissions will be accepted. Please note there are updated items asked for in this year’s call for proposals. One of which is that there is a maximum of 3 speakers for each session. For more details click here.

How Do I Submit a Proposal?
To submit a session proposal, please select “Create an Account.” Please note: your AAMC account login is separate from the proposal submission login.

Consultants and non-AAMC member organizations staff must present in conjunction with an AAMC member institution staff member. Proposals from commercial organizations must specify which AAMC member institution will participate in the session and provide the name and contact information for that co-presenter.

Selection Process
The GIA Steering Committee and Discipline Advisory Groups will review all submissions. The reviewers will place higher preference on proposals that are multi-institutional, interdisciplinary, team-oriented, and/or collaborative. Consider topics that cut across all institutional advancement disciplines. The GIA Steering Committee reserves the right to consolidate submissions. For more details click here.

The committee also assigns a session facilitator. AAMC staff will follow-up to confirm session details and connect the assigned facilitator with speakers. Speakers must work with the assigned facilitator and AAMC staff to meet session requirements and deadlines.
