Welcome to the CCS Research Fellowships & Awards Application Site


The CCS Research Fellowships and Awards program was established to foster growth of peer-reviewed Canadian cardiovascular research and researchers. With support from like-minded organizations committed to empowering clinician scientists nationally, the CCS Research Fellowships and Awards program supports topics of research that span the various areas of cardiovascular medicine. The CCS, and all program partners, encourage all eligible CCS members to apply, especially women, First Nations, Inuit, and Métis peoples, persons with disabilities and members of visible minorities.


CCS/Pfizer/CHF Alliance Research Fellowship Award in First Nations, Inuit, and Métis (FNIM) Communities Experiencing Heart Function (HF) Inequities

The Canadian Cardiovascular Society, Pfizer, and the Canadian Heart Function Alliance (CHF Alliance) are proud to support the CCS-Pfizer Research Fellowship Award in First Nations, Inuit and Métis (FNIM) Communities Experiencing Heart Function (HF) Inequities. The purpose of this award is to support growth and excellence in research focused on better understanding and addressing the heart function inequities experienced by First Nations, Inuit and Métis, in both health generally and HF care more specifically. This award is focused on successful early career Canadian researchers familiar with diagnosing and caring for FNIM people with HF.

One (1) salary award:
$65,000

CCS − Pfizer Transthyretin Amyloid Cardiomyopathy (ATTR-CM) Research Fellowship Award

The Canadian Cardiovascular Society (CCS) and Pfizer have collaboratively created a research fellowship award as part of the CCS Research Fellowships and Awards Program entitled “CCS-Pfizer ATTR-CM Research Fellowship Award.” This is a salary award where the purpose is to foster the growth of peer-reviewed Canadian research in the area of Transthyretin Amyloid Cardiomyopathy (ATTR-CM), with a focus on excellence and support for early career Canadian researchers familiar with diagnosing and treating patients with ATTR-CM who are looking to establish an independent research career.

One (1) salary award:
$60,000

CCS − BMS Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy (HCM) Research Award

The Canadian Cardiovascular Society and Bristol Myers Squibb (BMS) are proud to support the CCS-BMS Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy (HCM) Research Award. The purpose of this award is to foster growth of peer-reviewed Canadian research in the area of HCM, with a focus on HCM diagnosis, progression monitoring, epidemiology and / or prevalence.

Two (2) Awards:
Two (2) awards of up to $55,000 each will be awarded based on an independent peer review process. A total of $110,000 in funding is available across the two awards.
