LATE BREAKING Applications Do you have a clinical late-breaking topic for presentation at the 2025 Annual Meeting but missed the course deadline? AAOMS is now accepting applications from those who would like to present on timely topics. Accepted presentations must be 15 to 20 minutes in length and will be included as part of an on-demand session

GENERAL GUIDELINES
Courses dealing with clinical sciences should present current, but reasonably established information. Highly controversial or unproven concepts may be more appropriately presented as papers or posters with appropriate peer review. All applications must be submitted and presented in the English language.

ADA CERP and CDE Credit
Continuing dental education consists of educational activities designed to review existing concepts and techniques, to convey information beyond the basic dental education and to update knowledge on advances in scientific, clinical, and non-clinical practice related subject matter, including evidence-based dentistry. The objective is to improve the knowledge, skills and ability of the individual to provide the highest quality of service to the public and the profession. All continuing dental education should strengthen the habits of critical inquiry and balanced judgment that denote the truly professional and scientific person and should make it possible for new knowledge to be incorporated into the practice of dentistry as it becomes available.

Continuing education programs are designed for part-time enrollment and are usually of short duration, although longer programs with structured, sequential curricula may also be included within this definition. In contrast to accredited advanced dental education programs, continuing dental education programs do not lead to eligibility for ethical announcements or certification in a specialty recognized by the American Dental Association. Continuing dental education should be a part of a lifelong continuum of learning.

ACCME and CME Credit
According to the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education's (ACCME) Accreditation Policy, Continuing Medical Education (CME) consists of educational activities which serve to maintain, develop, or increase the knowledge, skills, and professional performance and relationships that a physician uses to provide services for patients, the public, or the profession. The content of CME is that body of knowledge and skills generally recognized and accepted by the profession as within the basic medical sciences, the discipline of clinical medicine, and the provision of health care to the public. All continuing educational activities that assist physicians in carrying out their professional responsibilities more effectively and efficiently are CME.

Courses can be considered for CDE/CME credit if they assist participants in providing better service to their patients or are directly related to participants' professional work. The Committee on Continuing Education and Professional Development (CCEPD) asks when you develop your topic, course description, synopsis, and learning objectives for a potential course, please take into consideration the potential for AAOMS members to receive CME credits for the clinic.

MISCELLANEOUS INFORMATION
Note: If your application is accepted, your registration fee for the Annual Meeting will be waived.

Scheduling: All submissions are reviewed annually for presentation. All avenues will be exhausted to ensure that a scheduling conflict will not arise for any clinician. AAOMS reserves the right to schedule a particular course as the CCEPD deems necessary.

A new application form MUST be completed each year. Relative to the AAOMS' accreditation status as a provider of continuing dental and medical education, applications received in previous years will no longer be used if you wish to repeat this course in a following year.

PLEASE NOTE:
ALL presentations must be developed and delivered in an electronic format, such as Microsoft PowerPoint.

In support of the ACCME Standards for Integrity and Independence in Accredited Continuing Education, and in order to maintain a clear separation of education and promotion, speakers at AAOMS educational sessions are prohibited from exhibiting products or services related to the content of their presentation(s).
