EDGE 2027 - Call for Abstracts
Thank you for your interest in submitting an abstract for consideration at EDGE. EDGE stands for Educate, Develop, Grow, Engage – some of the most important values of nurse anesthesiology educators. Join us Feb. 25 - 28, 2027, in Dallas, TX, for a fresh, CRNA-inspired experience centered on innovative teaching, deeper personal connections, and professional growth.
Submission Deadlines and Notifications Submission Deadline : April 30, 2026 at 11:59 pm CST Grading Deadline : July 31, 2026 Notification Deadline : All presenters will be notified of their acceptance status no later than September 4, 2026.
Please review the following information before submitting your abstract: • Abstracts submitted will be accepted as podium presentations. • AANA will accept up to two (2) abstracts per presenter. Please ensure that all email addresses of the presenters are accurate, as this will be the sole method of communication regarding acceptance. • Education sessions will be 30 or 60 minutes in length, including time for participant question and answer. Note: The AANA has the right to change the allotted amount of time upon acceptance. • Abstracts are reviewed and graded blindly by the AANA Education Committee and invited expert graders.
New for EDGE 2027: Abstract submissions will be submitted under one of the following topics:Rapid Induction: 30-Minute Hot Takes : Rapid-fire, high-energy sessions (TED-style) delivering concise, provocative perspectives on emerging issues, research, or innovations in nurse anesthesiology education and leadership.
Career Compass: Building Your Professional Path : Explores the evolving career journey of CRNAs—from early practice to roles in faculty, leadership, education, and research. Sessions should emphasize career development, mentorship, professional transitions, and pathways into advanced roles, including how emerging technologies such as AI may shape future opportunities and career sustainability.
Power Moves: Leading People, Programs & Change : Focuses on leadership in action – equipping educators, administrators, and clinical leaders to drive meaningful impact within programs and institutions including program administration, accreditation, and compliance. Sessions may feature panels or case-based discussions on leading through workforce and faculty shortages, managing conflict, navigating organizational change, making high-stakes decisions, and responsibly integrating innovations such as AI into educational and clinical systems..
AHA Moments: Teaching, Simulation & the Future of Education : Focuses on transformative approaches to CRNA education through innovation in teaching, assessment, and mentorship. Submissions should highlight strategies that enhance learning outcomes, promote inclusion, leverage simulation-based education, advance assessment practices, support faculty development, and explore emerging educational models.
Professional Resilience: Keeping Your Edge: Focuses on sustaining career longevity and well-being, this track welcomes abstracts that address personal and professional resilience, mental health, and strategies for maintaining balance and fulfillment in demanding roles.
Student Success: Supporting, Challenging & Preparing RRNAs: Focuses on issues impacting RRNAs across the educational continuum, including recruitment, retention, progression, assessment, remediation, well-being, and readiness for clinical practice. Sessions may address student support strategies, learning differences, professionalism concerns, generational dynamics, mental health, and the role of faculty, simulation, and emerging technologies (including AI) in fostering student success.
Sessions at EDGE will explore and exemplify cutting edge content and topics in nurse anesthesiology education. Keep this in mind as you select your topic, write the session title, and develop the abstract.
AANA will provide discounted registration(s) to EDGE 2027 for the Primary and Secondary (if applicable) speaker of accepted abstracts. Speakers/presenters will be responsible for their own travel costs, accommodation reservations and costs, and any additional fees.
