2020 Have a Heart Bursary Event Banner

Welcome to CCC Have a Heart Bursary Portal

The Have a Heart Bursary Program is designed to introduce promising young Canadian medical students, graduate trainees, post-graduate trainees, and basic scientist-in-training to the cardiovascular sciences (clinical and basic sciences) to encourage a strong Canadian cardiovascular community. Applicants should be committed to a future career in Canada.

This bursary program is sponsored by the Canadian Cardiovascular Society Academy, a charitable organization created in 2000 by the Canadian Cardiovascular Society (CCS). The CCSA's mandate is to support education, research, scholarships, and bursaries for medical students and prospective cardiovascular specialists.

Bursary awardees are invited to learn more about their future through participation in the annual Canadian Cardiovascular Congress. The CCC is the largest gathering of cardiovascular health professionals in Canada. The CCC draws physicians, researchers, trainees, medical students and other cardiovascular professionals from across Canada and around the globe. The CCC is co-hosted by the Canadian Cardiovascular Society and the Heart and Stroke Foundation.

COVID-19 and the CCC2020

As of March 11, 2020, the Canadian Cardiovascular Congress in Edmonton from October 22 to 25 is set to proceed as planned.

The public health risk associated with COVID-19 has been assessed by the Public Health Agency of Canada as low for the general population in Canada but cautions this could change rapidly. As such, we’re developing contingency plans so that we’re prepared for various possible scenarios.

We look forward to Congress every year as an important opportunity to bring the Canadian cardiovascular community together. We’re looking into various options including a modified in-person meeting or virtual delivery, so that we don’t miss the chance to connect with each other.

The health and wellbeing of our members, staff, attendees, suppliers and industry supporters is a top priority. CCS will provide updates on our Congress plans as the situation evolves.

Visit our website for the most up to date information on CCS’s response to COVID-19.
