Welcome to the ISTSS 2022 Annual Meeting Late-Breaking Poster Abstract Submission Site

Trauma as a Transdiagnostic Risk Factor Across the Lifespan

All too often, research isn't completed when ISTSS abstract submissions close. ISTSS is ‎excited to offer this ‎‎opportunity to submit a late-breaking poster submission for the in-person 38th ‎Annual Meeting. ‎

‎ Only poster abstract submissions will be considered. ‎Submissions open September 1 and close on September 15, 2022 at 11:55 ‎PDT, USA. NO EXTENSIONS WILL BE GRANTED.

‎ The ISTSS 38th in-person Annual Meeting will address the widespread health influences of trauma ‎exposure over ‎the life course. This year’s meeting will highlight the myriad ways in which ‎the impacts of traumatic stress can ‎manifest with respect to mental and physical health, ‎across populations, and across the lifespan.‎

‎ We encourage submissions on topics related--but not limited--to: ‎ ‎
  • Research on dimensional approaches to studying posttraumatic psychopathology
  • ‎ ‎
  • Research highlighting posttraumatic psychological comorbidities (e.g., PTSD and substance use ‎disorders)
  • ‎ ‎
  • Research on mental and physical health multimorbidity that can onset after trauma
  • ‎ ‎
  • Research integrating multiple levels of analyses (e.g., biological, psychological, interpersonal) to address ‎mechanisms underlying mental and physical health consequences of trauma exposure
  • ‎ ‎
  • Research taking a life course perspective to address how trauma can impact emotional health and/or get ‎embedded “under the skin” to influence physical health
  • ‎ ‎
  • Research on innovative treatments that address the myriad consequences of trauma (e.g., transdiagnostic ‎treatment approaches, interventions that address the mental and physical health consequences of ‎trauma)
‎ ‎Participation Limits (Two Submissions Per Person)
‎ To promote participation by a wide range of presenters, individuals are limited to two abstracts being submitted ‎that indicate they have a presenting role. ‎‎

‎ ‎Policies‎ ‎
  • Presentations should be original contributions and that any presentation concerning work that has been ‎presented elsewhere should provide new information or a new perspective relative to the previous ‎presentation(s).
  • ‎ ‎
  • Publication of the work, such as in a journal, prior to the date of abstract submission (not the abstract ‎submission deadline) is prohibited. ‎ ‎
  • Proposal descriptions must be sufficiently detailed to allow the relevance, originality and ‎feasibility to be ‎judged. For research presentation abstracts, submissions of findings are ‎strongly encouraged.‎
  • ‎ ‎
  • Incomplete proposals (draft status) will not be considered.
  • ‎ ‎
  • All live presentations may be recorded for asynchronous viewing.
‎ ‎Examples
‎ Competition for oral presentations is high; therefore, take the time to enter the best submission possible. Keep in ‎mind that many high quality proposals must be turned away simply due to lack of space. For examples of model ‎and problematic oral presentation proposals, click here.

‎ ‎Review Process
‎ Submissions are rated for rigor (scientific, clinical or intellectual), relevance for ISTSS members and consistency ‎with the meeting theme. Proposal descriptions must be sufficiently detailed to allow evaluation of these criteria. ‎‎

‎ ‎CME Requirements

‎ ‎Presentation Roles

‎ ‎Submission Recommendation
‎ When submitting your poster, it is strongly recommended that the individual who will be presenting in-person, is ‎the abstract submitter. Please note: If someone else submits the abstract on behalf of the primary presenter, that ‎person will become the point-person and receive all follow-up emails that will need to be forwarded to the primary ‎presenter.

‎ ‎ ‎COVID Protocol
‎ ISTSS will require attendees at the 2022 Annual Meeting to follow all COVID-19 guidelines that are in place at the ‎time of the meeting from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, state and local government, and ‎conference hotel Atlanta Marriott Marquis Hotel (which currently includes proof of full COVID-19 vaccination). ‎Individuals should contact the Executive Director to address specific circumstances or exceptional situations.‎
