The AVF is now accepting abstract submissions for the General Meeting Sessions and Advanced Practice Provider (APP) Sessions:

Abstract Guidelines & Requirements

Originality

• All submitted work must be original and not previously published or presented. All authors must attest that their presentation has not been shared publicly before the date of presentation at the AVF Annual Meeting. Work found to be in violation of this policy will result in the author being prohibited from presenting at the AVF Annual Meeting for the following two years.

Formatting

• Titles must be submitted in Title Case (not ALL CAPS and not sentence case).
• Abstracts must be 425 words or fewer, excluding the title and author list.
• Each table or graph counts as 25 words toward the total word count. A maximum of two images per abstract are permitted.
• All uploaded tables or graphs must include a title and be referenced within the abstract text.
• All image uploads must be in JPEG or PNG format only.
• Abstracts must be written and submitted in English.
• Abstracts must include all four required components: Background, Methods, Results, and Conclusion.
• Do not include the names or institutional affiliations of authors anywhere in the abstract text.

Presentation Types
Select one of the following three formats when submitting. Every effort will be made to honor your preference, though final placement is determined by the Program Committee:

• Quick Shot Presentation
• Poster Presentation (GENERAL SESSION SUBMISSIONS ONLY)

• Diagnostic Testing and Imaging
• Superficial Vein Disease
• Chronic Deep Venous Disease (Obstruction/Reflux)
• Pelvic Venous Disease
• Venous Thromboembolism / IVC Filters
• Lymphedema
• Wound Care
• Vascular Medicine
• Venous Healthcare Inequities
• Miscellaneous (e.g., Patient Education & Health Literacy, Quality Improvement & Patient Safety, Perioperative & Procedural Care, Care Coordination & Transitions of Care) 

Publication Opportunities

• All abstracts that are accepted for oral presentations in both the General and APP Sessions will be published in the Journal of Vascular Surgery: Venous and Lymphatic Disorders (JVS-VL).
• Podium presenters are encouraged to submit a full manuscript to JVS-VL for consideration. To help offset the Article Processing Charge (APC), AVF members receive a 20% discount. Additionally, the AVF will cover 50% of that reduced fee. Authors who are also SVS members will have the remaining 50% covered by the SVS.

Registration Requirement

• All presenting authors must be paid, registered attendees of the AVF 2027 Annual Meeting (full meeting registration based on AVF membership status).
• Acceptance of an abstract constitutes a commitment to present in person in Nashville.
• All presenters must complete all required forms and disclosures prior to presenting.

Notifications & Next Steps

• Decisions on accepted and rejected abstracts will be announced in late October.
• Complete presentation instructions will be included with your acceptance notification.
